About this event

At The Action Lab, we believe storytelling is an essential organizing tool—helping people build relationships, shift narratives, and strengthen movements for justice. Every story has the power to build connection, challenge assumptions, and inspire change.

This fall, The Action Lab and our Anchor Partner the Center for Anti-Violence Education are partnering with coaches from The Moth to offer Whose Stories? Our Stories., a storytelling workshop designed for immigrants living in New York City. Through two interactive coaching sessions, participants will work with experienced storytelling coaches to develop and strengthen personal stories rooted in joy, struggle, resilience, and belonging.

Whether you're an experienced storyteller or simply curious about finding your voice, the workshop offers a supportive space to reflect, connect with others, and explore the power of sharing your story.

Participants will also have the opportunity to share their stories during a fundraising event on the evening of Thursday, October 22. Live storytelling is completely optional—participants are welcome to join the workshops regardless of whether they choose to perform.

Workshop Dates

Tuesday, October 6 | 4:00–7:00 p.m.
Tuesday, October 13 | 4:00–7:00 p.m.

Participants must be available to attend both coaching sessions.

Applications are open through September 2, 2026.

Apply today to join a community of immigrant storytellers and help ensure that our stories are told—in our own voices.
