Childcare providers and organizers rallying together to advocate for fair wages, better working conditions, and universal childcare in New York.

Since last spring, our team has been supporting and helping coordinate the growing coalition of childcare providers fighting for fair wages, better working conditions, and universal childcare. We are excited to announce that this coalition now has a name: Providers Organized for Power (POP)! Currently, alongside The Action Lab, POP is comprised of leaders of Early Childhood Educators On The Move (ECEOTM), Alliance for Quality Education (AQE), New York Communities for Change (NYCC), Make the Road NY, Las Doñas, Citizen Action NY, Cornell Worker Institute, United Federation of Teachers (UFT), and the Union Coalition for Child Care.

We are continuing to grow the team to support this powerful coalition; consider joining us in this work. Together, we can help ensure that New York state fully cares for all the children and the oft-overlooked workers who support them at their most formative period in life.

As a coalition, POP joined the “Tax the Rich” day in Albany last week to demand that the state legislature pave the way for progressive income tax reform that will ensure New York’s working families have access to the services they need to thrive. Check out highlights from the event at the video below!

Please join us in taking action to win fair wages for child care providers in New York! If you are a New York State resident, please call your state legislators this weekend before the state budget is finalized early next week. Here is a simple script with links to find your representatives.
