Liberation Summer: Time for Some Action! Kick-off Concert Recap

Launching Liberation Summer 2023 at Manhattan's iconic SOBs, The Action Lab commemorated two pivotal 50-year anniversaries: Hip-Hop's cultural revolution from the streets of New York City and the military coup in Chile. Legendary hip-hop pioneers Ana Tijoux and Philadelphia's own Bahamadia, along with DJ Eclipse and Rebel Diaz, delivered powerful performances. This convergence of histories—Hip-Hop's ascent and a half-century of resistance to neoliberal policies—underscored The Action Lab's mission: leveraging culture as a catalyst for change, bridging struggles from the Bronx to Santiago and beyond. The SOBs concert set the stage for the rest of Liberation Summer, signaling a season of reflection, connection, and action.
