Liberation Summer: Del Sur 'Pal Caribe! La Tejedora Launch in Puerto Rico
After a successful launch of Liberation Summer in New York City, The Action Lab headed to Puerto Rico to introduce its newest initiative: La Tejedora with the vibrant street festival "Del Sur P'al Caribe". It featured vendors, top-tier artists like Dasic Fernandez and local organizations actively fighting against issues like displacement and the controversial Act 22.
Developed by two Puerto Rican organizers and leaders, La Tejedora’s goal is simple - to weave solidarity, strategies, and action between social justice activists in Puerto Rico with international movements, and mobilize communities for local and national change. With nearly 6 million Boricuas in the diaspora, the importance of this connection is clear. La Tejedora emphasizes the rights to remain, to return, and the crucial role of youth in leading the way forward.
With performances from artists like Ana Tijoux, PJ Sinsuela, Talib Kweli, Hijo de Borikén, DJ Ethos, DJ Velcro, Ana Macho, DJ Toca Lale, Hordatoj, and RodStarz, it was a mix of culture, celebration, resistance, activism, and international solidarity.
