Salsa y Resistencia returns to the Bronx for its third edition, bringing together community members for an evening that celebrates music, culture, political education, and collective resistance.
Hosted at the historic El Maestro Boxing Gym, this gathering creates space for meaningful conversations, artistic expression, and community connection while highlighting the role that culture plays in strengthening social movements and building collective power.
The evening will feature a conversation with The Bori Collective exploring the impacts of Puerto Rico's proposed Proyecto Esencia, a development project that has raised significant concerns about land use, environmental protection, displacement, and community self-determination. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the issues shaping Puerto Rico today and the organizing efforts responding to them.
The program will also feature a live performance by Chilean artist Reikat, a vinyl salsa set from Salsa en Vinilos, and an energetic performance by Faabio Puentes y Su Tremendo Lío, creating an atmosphere that blends political education with celebration and joy.
Salsa y Resistencia reflects The Action Lab's commitment to weaving together arts, culture, and organizing as essential tools for movement building. By creating spaces where people can learn, connect, and celebrate together, we strengthen the relationships that sustain community power.
