The 2026 Law and Organizing Academy (LOA) is our annual program in partnership with NYU Law’s Initiative for Community Power. Now in its fourth year, Law and Organizing Academy brings together law students from across New York to build community and develop the skills, frameworks, and political grounding needed to align legal practice with movement building.
This year, we are looking forward to welcoming a class of 50 people to the Law and Organizing Academy. Spanning six sessions from May through July in various locations across New York City, with one day in upstate New York, participants will engage deeply with organizing frameworks, law and political economy, racial capitalism and the state, and theories of social change and power-building. Through learning with practitioners and grounding in real-world campaigns for racial and economic justice, LOA continues to create space to reimagine how law can be used to build power.
